Dorzolamide HCl
Indications/Uses
Reduction of elevated IOP in patients w/ glaucoma.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Monotherapy Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) in the morning, afternoon & evening. Adjunctive therapy w/ an ophth β-blocker Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) in the morning & evening. Instill at least 10 min apart if using w/ another eye drop.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Patients w/ severe kidney impairment or problems, or prior history of kidney stones.
Special Precautions
Discontinue treatment in case of allergic reaction. Caution in patients w/ existing or history of eye problems & surgeries; liver problems. Contains benzalkonium Cl. Remove contact lenses prior to instillation & reinsert after 15 min. May affect ability to drive &/or operate machinery. Do not use during pregnancy. Breast-feeding is not recommended if treatment is required.
Adverse Reactions
Burning & stinging of the eyes. Superficial punctate keratitis, conjunctivitis, eyelid irritation/inflammation, blurred vision, headache, nausea, bitter taste, & fatigue.
Drug Interactions
Potential interaction w/ another carbonic anhydrase inhibitor eg, acetazolamide, or a sulpha drug.
