Per 5 mL Amoxicillin (as trihydrate) 125 mg, clavulanic acid (as K clavulanate) 31.25 mg
Indications/Uses
Infections of the middle ear & sinus, resp tract, urinary tract, skin & soft tissue (including dental), & bone & joint in babies & childn.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Childn weighing <40 kg 20/5 mg/kg to 60/15 mg/kg daily in 3 divided doses.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Give at the start of a meal or slightly before.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to amoxicillin, clavulanic acid, or penicillin. History of severe hypersensitivity reaction to any other antibiotic. History of liver problems or jaundice w/ antibiotic intake.
Special Precautions
Caution in patients w/ glandular fever; being treated for liver or kidney problems; not passing water regularly. Can cause or worsen allergic reactions, convulsions (fits), & large intestine inflammation. Can affect results of blood (eg, RBC status tests, LFTs) or urine (eg, glucose) tests. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Diarrhoea (in adults). Thrush; nausea; vomiting & diarrhoea (in childn).
Drug Interactions
Possible allergic skin reaction w/ allopurinol. Potential interaction w/ probenecid, warfarin, MTX, & mycophenolate mofetil.
