Not a substitute for flu vaccination. No evidence for efficacy in any illness caused by agents other than flu viruses. Potential risk of bronchospasm in patients w/ asthma or COPD. Discontinue treatment in case of bronchospasm &/or decline in resp function. Must not be made into an extemporaneous soln for administration by nebulisation or mechanical ventilation. Reports of neuropsychiatric events, especially in childn & adolescents. Patients w/ rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take this medicine. Pregnancy & lactation. Efficacy for treatment of elderly ≥65 yr has not been established. Limited experience in patients w/ severe asthma or other chronic resp disease, patients w/ unstable chronic illnesses or immunocompromised patients. Limited & inconclusive data on efficacy in the prevention of flu in the nursing home setting.
