Per 100 mL Highly refined fish oil 10 g containing: EPA 1.25-2.82 g, DHA 1.44-3.09 g, dl-α-tocopherol (as antioxidant) 0.015-0.0296 g, glycerol 2.5 g, purified egg phosphatide 1.2 g. Total energy: 112 kcal
Indications/Uses
Parenteral nutrition supplementation w/ long-chain omega-3-fatty acids especially EPA & DHA, when oral or enteral nutrition is impossible, insufficient or contraindicated.

Dosage/Direction for Use
1-2 mL/kg. Max infusion rate: 0.5 mL/kg/hr. Duration: Not more than 4 wk.

Overdosage
View Omegaven overdosage for action to be taken in the event of an overdose.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity or allergy to fish or egg protein. Severe haemorrhagic disorders. Collapse & shock, recent cardiac infarction, stroke, embolism, undefined coma status. Hypokalaemia, hyperhydration, hypotonic dehydration, unstable metabolism, acidosis. Severe liver or renal insufficiency. Pregnancy & lactation. Premature infants, newborns, infants & childn.

Special Precautions
Impaired lipid metabolism & uncontrolled DM. Monitor serum triglycerides daily. Regularly check blood glucose profiles, acid-base metabolism, serum electrolytes, fluid balance, blood count & bleeding time in patients treated w/ anticoagulants.

Adverse Reactions
Prolonged bleeding time & inhibited platelet aggregation. Slight elevation of body temp; heat &/or cold sensations; chills; flush or cyanosis; lack of appetite, nausea, vomiting; dyspnoea; headache, chest, back, loins & bone pain; increased or decreased BP; anaphylactic reactions (eg, erythema). Hepatomegaly w/ or w/o icterus; changes in coagulation parameters; splenomegaly; anaemia, leucopenia, thrombocytopenia; bleeding & tendency to bleed; pathological liver function tests, fever; hyperlipidaemia; headache, stomach pains, fatigue; hyperglycaemia.
