Indications/Uses
Dosage/Direction for Use
Treatment of patients w/ candidemia, acute disseminated candidiasis, candida peritonitis & abscesses Adult 100 mg/day; childn 2 mg/kg/day (max 100 mg daily). Treatment of esophageal candidiasis Adult 150 mg/day; childn ≤30 kg 3 mg/kg/day, >30 kg 2.5 mg/kg/day (max 150 mg daily). Prophylaxis of Candida infections in hematopoeitic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) recipients Adult 50 mg/day; childn 1 mg/kg/day (max 50 mg daily).
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Discontinue in cases of serious hypersensitivity reactions. Monitor for evidence of worsening hepatic & renal function & hemolysis or hemolytic anemia during therapy.
Adverse Reactions
Rash, pruritus, facial swelling & vasodilatation. Inj site reactions eg, phlebitis & thrombophlebitis. Leukopenia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, anemia; nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain; pyrexia, rigors; hyperbilirubinemia; abnormal liver function & other lab tests; hypokalemia, hypocalcemia, hypomagnesemia; headache, dizziness, somnolence; HTN.
Drug Interactions
Sirolimus, nifedipine, itraconazole.
