Lamisil

Terbinafine hydrochloride.

Lamisil 1% cream contains 10 mg of the active ingredient terbinafine hydrochloride per 1 g cream.
Lamisil 1% Spray contains 10 mg of the active ingredient terbinafine hydrochloride per 1 g spray solution.

Lamisil is used to treat tinea pedis (athlete's foot) and tinea cruris.
If the patient is not sure about the cause of infection, the patient should tell the physician or pharmacist before using Lamisil.

Tinea pedis (Athlete's foot): apply once a day for one week.
Tinea cruris: apply once a day for one week.
Use Lamisil for the recommended one-week treatment period even if the infection seems to be better after a few days. Infections usually appear to improve within a few days, but may reappear if Lamisil is not applied regularly or is stopped too early.
Lamisil should start to improve the patient's skin condition in a few days. However, complete healing of the damaged skin after the infection has cleared up will take longer, possibly up to 4 weeks. Lamisil will continue to work even after the patient has completed the one-week treatment. Even though the patient will not be using Lamisil, improvement should continue.
Consult the physician if there is no improvement after the use of medicines for a week.
Administration: Cream: When the tube is sealed, pierce the seal using the spike in the top of the cap. Clean and dry the affected skin and surrounding areas, and wash hands. Open the tube and place a small amount of cream on the finger. Replace the cap on the tube. Apply just enough cream to put a thin layer on the affected skin and the skin directly surrounding it. Rub in gently.
Wash hands after touching the infected skin, to avoid spreading the infection.
Spray: 1. Clean and dry the affected skin and surrounding areas, and wash hands.
2. Remove the cap from the bottle and turn it up side down to spray.
3. When using the spray bottle for the first time, press the pump a few times until an even spray is achieved.
4. For manipulation of the spray pump the bottle can be held in the upright or inverted position.
5. Spray enough of the solution to thoroughly wet the affected skin and surrounding areas.
6. Replace the cap on the bottle.

If the patient is treating an infection in folded areas of the body, the patient can cover the treated area with a gauze strip, especially at night. If the patient does, he/she should use a fresh, clean gauze strip each time applying the spray.

Do not use Lamisil if allergic to any of the ingredients.

External use only. Do not use in the mouth or swallow it. Keep away from eyes. If accidentally gets into the eyes, the patient should wipe it away and rinse the eye thoroughly with running water.
Use in Pregnancy: If the patient is pregnant, she should ask the doctor or pharmacist before using Lamisil.
Use in Lactation: Do not use Lamisil while breast-feeding as terbinafine hydrochloride, the active ingredient, is excreted in breast milk. Infants must not be allowed to come into contact with any treated skin.
Use in Children: Cream: Do not use Lamisil cream on a child under 12 years of age.
Spray: Do not use Lamisil Spray on a child under 18 years of age.

If the patient is pregnant, she should ask the doctor or pharmacist before using Lamisil. Do not use Lamisil while breast-feeding as terbinafine hydrochloride, the active ingredient, is excreted in breast milk. Infants must not be allowed to come into contact with any treated skin.

Most people benefit from using Lamisil. However, all medicines can cause problems in some people, and it is important to note the following: Redness, itching or stinging may occur after use in a few people. These are harmless, mild side effects that can be expected when applying Lamisil.
In very rare instances, people may be allergic to Lamisil, which could cause swelling and pain, skin rashes or hives. If the patient experiences these particular symptoms, he/she should stop using Lamisil and tell the physician or pharmacist immediately.
If the patient notices any side effects not mentioned, please tell the physician.
