Antihemophilic factor VIII (Human)
Indications/Uses
Dosage/Direction for Use
By IV only. Mild hemorrhage A single dose 10 IU/kg. Moderate hemorrhage 15-25 IU/kg. If required, repeated doses of 10-15 IU/kg every 8-12 hr may be given. Severe hemorrhage Initial dose; 40-50 IU/kg. Maintenance: 20-25 IU/kg every 8-12 hr. Surgery Pre-op dose: 50 IU/kg. To maintenance hemostatic levels, repeat infusions may be necessary every 6-12 hr initially & for 10-14 days until healing is complete.
Special Precautions
Persons w/ previous transfusions of blood & plasma products, possibility of contacting viral hepatitis must be considered. Administer only by IV route. When large or frequently repeated doses are required, patients of blood groups A, B or AB should be monitored for signs of progressive anemia. Childn. Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Allergic reactions, tingling in the arm, ear & face, blurred vision, headache, nausea, stomach ache, jittery feeling.
