Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to indapamide or any other sulfonamide. Hepatic encephalopathy. Low K level in the blood. Severe kidney or liver disease
Special Precautions
Patients w/ any heart rhythm problems; DM; gout; any skin problems eg, rash, change in skin colour, swelling or photosensitivity; intolerance to lactose; patients who need to undergo test to check the parathyroid gland function. Perform blood test to check levels of Na, K, & Ca. +ve results in doping tests. Sulfonamide or sulfonamide derivative drugs can cause an idiosyncratic reaction, which may result in choroidal effusion, secondary acute angle-closure glaucoma &/or acute transient myopia. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Not recommended in patients w/ liver or kidney problems. Should not be taken during pregnancy or while breast-feeding. Not recommended in childn & adolescents.
Adverse Reactions
Maculopapular rashes.
Drug Interactions
Do not take w/ lithium due to increased blood levels of lithium. Dose adjustment may be needed w/ chlorpromazine, thioridazine, amisulpride, sulpiride, haloperidol; quinidine, hydroquinidine, disopyramide, amiodarone, sotalol, dofetilide & ibutilide; bepridil; cisapride, diphemanil; antibiotics eg, erythromycin inj, pentamidine, sparfloxacin & moxifloxacin; halofantrine; mizolastine; vincamine inj; NSAIDs eg, ibuprofen, COX-2 inhibitors eg, celecoxib or high doses of ASA; ACE inhibitors eg, captopril, enalapril or perindopril; amphotericin B inj; steroids eg, hydrocortisone, prednisolone, tetracosactide; stimulant laxatives eg, senna & glycerol supp; baclofen; digoxin & digitoxin; K-sparing diuretics eg, amiloride, spironolactone, triamterene; metformin; antidepressants eg, imipramine & neuroleptics; medicines containing Ca; immunosuppressive agents eg, ciclosporin, tacrolimus. Additional precautions may be needed in patients who will undergo X-ray.
