Cream Fusidic acid. Oint Na fusidate
Indications/Uses
Skin infections caused by Staph, Strep, Corynebacterium minutissimum, & other organisms sensitive to fusidic acid/Na fusidate: Impetigo, infected wounds, folliculitis, boils, sycosis barbae, carbuncles, hidradenitis, paronychia, erythrasma. Cream: Skin infections caused by Propionibacterium acnes; acne vulgaris.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Cream Apply to the affected area bd-tds for 7 days, except in acne where therapy should be extended for a longer period according to the nature of the disease. Oint Apply to the affected area bd-tds for 7 days.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Reports of bacterial resistance among Staph aureus. Increased risk of developing antibiotic resistance w/ extended or recurrent use. Avoid applying on the breast. Cream: Contains butyl hydroxyanisole, cetyl alcohol & K sorbate. Use w/ caution when applied in the proximity of the eyes. Oint: Contains cetyl alcohol & wool fat (hydrous lanolin); butylhydroxytoluene (E321). Avoid contact w/ eyes
Adverse Reactions
Pruritus, rash; application site pain & irritation.
