Fludarabine phosphate
Indications/Uses
Chronic B-cell lymphocytic leukaemia (B-CLL) in patients w/ sufficient healthy blood cell production.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Inj/infusion 25 mg/m2 once daily for 5 consecutive days every 28 days.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Haemolytic anaemia; severe renal impairment. Lactation.
Special Precautions
Perform regular blood tests during treatment. Autoimmune disorder, autoimmune haemolysis. In case of blood transfusion, blood should have gone though irradiation. Patients who will undergo stem cells collection. Renal & hepatic impairment. Severe chronic lymphocytic leukaemia; tumor lysis syndrome. Monitor for unusual CNS effects & any changes to the skin. Fertile men & women must use a reliable form of contraception. Avoid live vaccinations during & after treatment. May influence the ability to drive & use machines. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <18 yr. Elderly >65 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Serious &/or opportunistic infection, pneumonia w/ possible symptoms eg, breathing difficulties &/or cough w/ or w/o fever; thrombocytopenia w/ the possibility of bruising & bleeding, neutropenia, anaemia; cough; vomiting, diarrhea, nausea; fever; fatigue; weakness. Other blood related cancers (myelodysplastic syndrome, acute myeloid leukaemia); myelosuppression; anorexia; peripheral neuropathy; disturbed vision; stomatitis; skin rash; oedema; mucositis; chills; generally feeling unwell.
Drug Interactions
Reduced efficacy w/ dipyridamole. Not recommended w/ pentostatin or deoxycoformycin.
