Indications/Uses
Primary hypercholesterolaemia (heterozygous familial & non-familial) as monotherapy or in combination w/ a statin. Homozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia in combination w/ a statin.
Dosage/Direction for Use
10 mg once daily. If taken w/ bile acid sequestrant, take Ezoleta at least 2 hr before or 4 hr after taking the bile acid sequestrant.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. In combination w/ a statin: Liver problems. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Perform liver function tests before & during treatment. Concomitant use w/ fibrates. May cause dizziness to some patients; caution when driving & using machines. Not recommended in patients w/ moderate or severe liver problems. Pregnancy & lactation (in monotherapy). Not for childn & adolescents ≤17 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Abdominal pain, diarrhoea, flatulence, feeling tired. In combination w/ a statin: Elevations in transaminases, headache, muscle pain, tenderness or weakness.
Drug Interactions
Potential interaction w/ ciclosporin; anticoagulants eg, warfarin, phenprocoumon, acenocoumarol or fluindione; colestyramine; fibrates.
