Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, haemochromatosis, haemosiderosis, thalassemia, sideroblastic anaemia, chronic haemolysis, lead-induced anaemia, patients receiving repeated blood transfusions.

Adverse Reactions

GI discomfort, vomiting, constipation, diarrhoea, epigastric pain, black stools.

Drug Interactions

Decreased absorption w/ antacids or tea. Reduced effects of penicillamine.
