Liver function test: Determination methods for the disappearance rate of the dye in the plasma & for rate of retention in blood Dilute an amount equivalent to 0.5 mg/kg indocyanine green to a conc of 5 mg/mL w/ water for inj. Gradually inject IV into the cubitus vein w/in 30 sec w/ careful observation of the symptoms.
Determination method for hepatic blood flow Dissolve 25 mg in as small amount of water for inj as possible, dilute to a conc of 2.5-5 mg/mL w/ a physiological saline. An amount of the resulting soln equivalent to 3 mg indocyanine green is injected IV. Then, perform IV drip infusion at a constant speed until blood collection for about 50 min at a rate of 0.27-0.49 mg/min is completed.
Circulatory function test Usually injected via the forearm vein.
Adult 5-10 mg of indocyanine green ie, about 1-2 mL.
Childn Decrease dose in accordance w/ body wt.
