Caution in patients w/ history of local hypersensitivity to other corticosteroids or to any of the excipients in the prep. W/draw gradually or substitute a less potent corticosteroid in case of manifestations of hypercortisolism (Cushing's syndrome) & reversible hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis suppression. Avoid long-term continuous topical corticosteroid therapy in infants & childn <12 yr, courses should be limited if possible to 5 days & reviewed wkly; occlusion should not be used. Infection risk w/ occlusion. Use w/ caution in patients w/ psoriasis. Appropriate antimicrobial therapy should be used whenever treating inflammatory lesions which have become infected. Patients w/ renal/hepatic impairment (in case of systemic absorption). Pregnancy & lactation. Elderly.
Dermovate cream/oint Higher occurrence of local hypersensitivity reactions & increased risk of local infection when used to treat dermatitis around chronic leg ulcers. If applied to the face, courses should be limited to 5 days if possible & occlusion should not be used. If applied to the eyelids, care is needed to ensure that the prep does not enter the eye, as cataract & glaucoma might result from repeated exposure. If Dermovate does enter the eye, the affected eye should be bathed in copious amounts of water. Contains propylene glycol which may cause skin irritation.
Dermovate cream Contains cetostearyl alcohol & chlorocresol.
Dermovate Scalp Application Avoid contact w/ eyes. Avoid smoking whilst applying to the scalp; fire, flame & heat including use of hair dryer after application. Visual disturbance.
