Each capsule of Colpermin contains 0.2 ml of peppermint oil.
The capsules are coated in a certain way, so that the contents are released in the small intestine and not in the stomach. The purpose of this coating is to deliver the peppermint oil to the site where it is more effective. The oil exerts a local effect of intestinal relaxation.
The doctor has diagnosed a condition called irritable colon. The possible symptoms of irritable colon include abdominal pain, discomfort and bloating.
Colpermin is used for the treatment of symptoms of irritable colon.
The capsules must be swallowed whole.
Do not chew the capsules.
Each dose should be taken about 30-60 minutes before meals.
Do not take the capsules immediately after food.
The capsules can be taken with a little water.
Do not take indigestion remedies at the same time of day as this medicine.
Adult Dose: One capsule three times a day. The dose may be increased to two capsule three times a day when discomfort is more severe. The capsules should be taken until symptoms are relieved, which would usually be within one or two weeks.
Children's Dose: There is no recommended dose for children under 15 years of age.
Colpermin capsules should only be used during pregnancy after consultation with the doctor.
Side effects from Colpermin are not serious or frequent. The most common side effect is heartburn. A slight burning sensation in the anal passage has occasionally been reported. Allergic reactions to peppermint are rare, but if an allergic reaction occurs, the following symptoms may be produced - skin rash, headache or muscle tremor. Consult a doctor if an allergy is suspected.
Keep the capsules in a dry place, away from direct heat or sunlight.
