Human C1-esterase inhibitor
Indications/Uses
Acute episodes of hereditary angioedema type I & II (HAE).
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & paed patient 20 IU/kg by slow IV inj or infusion (4 mL/min).
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Immediately stop administration in case of allergic or anaphylactic-type reactions. Patients w/ laryngeal oedema; patients on a controlled Na diet. Potential risks associated w/ home-treatment & self-administration. Possibility of transmitting infective agents. Appropriate vaccination (hepatitis A & B) should be generally considered for patients in regular/repeated receipt of human plasma-derived products. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Rare: Development of thrombosis; rise in temp, inj site reactions; allergic or anaphylactic-type reactions.
