Indications/Uses
ADHD in adults, adolescents, & childn ≥6 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Individualized dose. Administer once daily or bd (morning & late afternoon/early evening).
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Take at the same time each day. Swallow whole, do not open cap.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Narrow angle glaucoma; symptomatic CV disease; moderate to severe high BP or severe CV disorders; advanced arteriosclerosis; uncontrolled hyperthyroidism. Concomitant use w/ MAOIs.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ structural heart abnormalities; inborn, acquired or family history of long QT interval; mental problems, including psychosis, mania, bipolar illness, or depression; seizures (convulsions, epilepsy) or abnormal EEGs; any disorder of the blood vessels in the brain (eg, aneurysm, stroke, vasculitis); family history of sudden death or death related to heart problems; liver problems; mild high BP; problems w/ the heart or an irregular heartbeat; low BP. Patients doing strenuous exercise. Screen patients for pre-existing or underlying CV or cerebrovascular conditions before treatment initiation & monitor during treatment. Rare post-marketing cases of priapism. Potential association w/ the occurrence of behavioural & emotional changes (new or worsened) including self-harm. Rigorous clinical monitoring for suicidal ideation or other indicators of potential for suicidal behaviour is advised in patients of all ages. Reports of severe liver damage. Concomitant use w/ other drugs for ADHD. Pregnancy & lactation. Should not be used in childn <6 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Adults: Constipation, dry mouth, nausea, decreased appetite, dizziness, problems sleeping, sexual side effects, problems urinating, menstrual cramps, rapid or irregular heartbeat, tiredness. Adolescents & childn >6 yr: Upset stomach, decreased appetite, nausea or vomiting, dizziness, tiredness, constipation, low BP.
Drug Interactions
Potential interaction w/ antidepressants eg, paroxetine HCl & fluoxetine HCl; quinidine; desipramine; oral, IV, or nebulized salbutamol (or drugs w/ similar actions); antihypertensives.
