Indications/Uses
Management of RA. Short-term symptomatic treatment of acute exacerbations of OA. Symptomatic treatment of ankylosing spondylitis. Treatment of juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
RA/ankylosing spondylitis Adult ≥16 yr 15 mg daily single dose. Patient w/ increased risk of adverse reactions Start treatment at 7.5 mg daily. Elderly Recommended dose of 7.5 mg daily for long-term treatment. Acute exacerbations of OA Adult ≥16 yr 7.5 mg daily, may be increased if necessary to max 15 mg daily single dose.
Contraindications
Patients w/ severe heart failure. Peri-operative pain in the setting of CABG surgery. History of GI bleeding or perforation related to previous NSAIDs therapy. Active or history of recurrent peptic ulcer/haemorrhage. Childn <16 yr.
Special Precautions
Increased risk of serious CV thrombotic events, MI, stroke; serious GI adverse events; risk of renal effects. Patients w/ CV disease or risk factors for CV disease; impaired renal function, liver dysfunction, patients taking diuretics & ACE inhibitors. Not recommended in patients w/ advanced renal disease. Serious liver injury in rare cases. Elderly.
