May be taken with or without food.

Chống chỉ định
Hypersensitivity. Patients who previously developed liver disorders while receiving the drug.

Hepatic or renal impairment; prolongation of QT interval; porphyria; pregnancy; lactation.

GI disturbances; hypersensitivity reactions; cholestatic jaundice; CV effects; myasthenia-like syndrome.

Tương tác
Other drugs known to prolong QT interval. May reduce effect of oral contaceptives. Concentration possibly increased by cimetidine. Increased plasma concentration of warfarin, digoxin, theophylline, carbamazepine, ciclosporin. Increased risk of peripheral ischaemia with ergotamine.
Potentially Fatal: Ventricular arrhythmias with astemizole, terfenadine and cisapride. |

Description:
Mechanism of Action: Midecamycin binds reversibly to 50S ribosomal subunit causing blockade of transpeptidation/translocation reactions, inhibition of protein synthesis and thus inhibition of cell growth. Midecamycin has similar uses to erythromycin but is less active. |
