Susceptible infections Adult: 1-2 g daily in 2 or more divided doses.

Hepatic or renal impairment; prolongation of QT interval; porphyria; pregnancy; lactation; myasthenia gravis.

GI disturbances; hypersensitivity reactions; reversible hearing loss; pancreatitis; cholestatic jaundice; CV effects; myasthenia-like syndrome; Stevens-Johnson syndrome; toxic epidermal necrolysis.

Tương tác
Reduces efficacy of oral contraceptives. Increases concentrations and/or toxicity of: benzodiazepines, bromocriptine, ciclosporin, digoxin, ergot and derivatives, amitriptyline.
Potentially Fatal: QT prolonging drugs |

Description:
Mechanism of Action: Josamycin binds reversibly to 50s ribosomal subunit causing blockage of transpeptidation/translocation reactions, inhibition of protein synthesis and thus inhibition of cell growth. Spectrum of activity includes many gm+ve and some gm-ve bacteria as well as mycoplasmas, spirochetes, chlamydias and rickettsias. Josamycin is more active than erythromycin against some strains of anaerobic species eg, Bacteroides fragilis. |
