Irrigation
Irrigant during transurethral prostatic or bladder surgery Adult: As 1.5% sterile solution: Use as required according to the nature and duration of the procedure, and discretion of the surgeon. Administer via transurethral instillation with appropriate urologic instrumentation.

Thận trọng
Patient with severe cardiopulmonary dysfunction. Hepatic and severe renal impairment. Not indicated for injection by usual parenteral routes.

Tác dụng không mong muốn
Significant: If systemically absorbed: Fluid and electrolyte disorders (e.g. acidosis, electrolyte loss, marked diuresis, urinary retention, oedema, dehydration, hyponatraemia), CV disorders (e.g. hypotension, tachycardia, angina-like pain, thrombophlebitis), pulmonary disorders (e.g. pulmonary congestion), hyperammonaemia (in patients with hepatic impairment), coma (immediate or delayed).
Ear and labyrinth disorders: Vertigo. Eye disorders: Visual disturbances, transient blindness. Gastrointestinal disorders: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea. General disorders and administration site conditions: Chills. Nervous system disorders: Convulsions. |

Determine CV status prior to and during transurethral resection of the prostate (particularly in patients with cardiac disease). Monitoring of fluid and electrolyte levels may be considered.

Description:
Mechanism of Action: Glycine is an amino acid and nonelectrolyte. Glycine 1.5% solution in water is nontoxic, nonhaemolytic and nonconductive with a refractive index near to that of water which makes it suitable as a urologic irrigating fluid during electrosurgical procedures. It is sufficient to minimise the risk of intravascular haemolysis that may occur from the absorption of plain water through open prostatic veins during transurethral resection. Pharmacokinetics: Metabolism: If systemically absorbed: Primarily metabolised via transamination to serine, and via deamination to ammonia which is usually converted to urea. Excretion: Via the kidneys (if systemically absorbed). |
