Action
Description:
Mechanism of Action: Pinazepam, a long-acting benzodiazepine, has general properties similar to diazepam but with less toxicity. Its action mainly involves modification in the limbic system region. Pinazepam appears to be associated with a particularly low hypnotic effect and a limited motor coordination impairment. It also shows less cortical activity at the anxiolytic level than does diazepam on EEG. Pharmacokinetics: Absorption: Rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Metabolism: Metabolised via N-1 dealkylation and C-3 hydroxylation. |
