Indications/Uses
Adjuvant therapy for patients w/ abnormal, viscid or inspissated mucous secretions in conditions eg chronic/acute broncho-pulmonary disease, pulmonary complications associated w/ surgery & cystic fibrosis, tracheostomy care, post-traumatic chest conditions, atelectasis due to mucous obstruction & diagnostic bronchial studies.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initially 750 mg tds, then 375 mg qds. Childn 5-12 250 mg tds, <5 yr 62.5-125 mg qds.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Special Precautions
History of peptic ulcer. Active ulceration.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, headache, gastric discomfort, diarrhoea, GI bleeding & skin rash.
