Special Precautions
Ensure sufficient fluid intake.

Adverse Reactions
May cause electrolyte imbalance by increasing sodium and potassium loss in the stools, especially in elderly, children and in severe diarrhoea.

Drug Interactions
May reduce the absorption of a number of drugs (e.g. tetracycline, lincomycin, digoxin, aspirin, chloroquine, hydroxychloroquine, phenothiazine).

Mechanism of Action: Kaolin is an adsorbent antidiarrhoeal agent that binds to and traps bacteria and its toxins in the gut. It also binds to water in the gut, which helps to make the stools firmer. |
