Salbutamol sulphate
Indications/Uses
Relief of bronchospasm in patients w/ reversible obstructive airway disease.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn ≥12 yr 2 or 4 mg tds or qds. Max: 32 mg/day. Childn 6-12 yr Usual starting dose: 2 mg tds or qds. Max: 24 mg/day in divided doses. Childn 2-6 yr Initially 0.1 mg/kg body wt tds. Max starting dose: 2 mg tds. May be cautiously increased to 0.2 mg/kg body wt tds. Max: 4 mg tds.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach.
Special Precautions
CV disorders including coronary insufficiency & HTN; hyperthyroidism or DM. Patients unusually responsive to sympathomimetic amines. Not to be taken more frequently than recommended.
Adverse Reactions
Nervousness, tremor, headache, tachycardia, palpitations, muscle cramps, insomnia, nausea, weakness & dizziness. Drowsiness, flushing, restlessness, irritability, chest discomfort & difficulty in micturition.
Drug Interactions
Other oral sympathomimetic agents, MAOIs, TCAs, β-blockers.
