Polyethylene glycol 3350, 13.125 g, NaCl 350.7 mg, Na hydrogen carbonate 178.5 mg, KCl 46.6 mg
Indications/Uses
Chronic constipation. Fecal impaction.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult, adolescent, & elderly Chronic constipation 1-3 sachet daily in divided doses. For extended use, dose can be adjusted down to 1-2 sachet daily. Duration: Not to exceed 2 wk, dosage can be repeated if required. Fecal impaction 8 sachet daily consumed w/in a 6-hr period. Max duration: 3 days. Patient w/ impaired CV function Max: 2 sachet taken in any 1 hr.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Intestine or colon disease (eg, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease); abdominal pain of undetermined cause; suspected GI perforation or bowel obstruction (ileus).
Special Precautions
Prolonged use is not recommended. Consider electrolyte check-up in patients subject to electrolytic disorders in case of diarrhoea. Renal insufficiency. Childn <12 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, angioedema, dyspnoea, rash, urticaria, pruritus; erythema; electrolyte disturbances, particularly hyperkalaemia & hypokalaemia; headache; abdominal pain, diarrhoea, vomiting, nausea, dyspepsia, abdominal distention, borborygmi, flatulence, anorectal discomfort; peripheral oedema.
Drug Interactions
Decreased efficacy w/ anti-epileptics.
