Ceftazidime pentahydrate
Indications/Uses
Treatment of infection due to sensitive gm +ve & gm -ve bacteria.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Usual dose: 1 g 8-12 hrly; range from 250 mg-2 g 8-12 hrly continue for at least 2 days. Childn 1 mth-12 yr 30-50 mg/kg 8 hrly. Max: 6 g/24 hr. Infant up to 4 wk 30 mg/kg 12 hrly.
Special Precautions
History of allergy. Hypersensitivity to other cephalosporins. Renal impairment. Monitor renal & hematological status.
Adverse Reactions
Burning, discomfort & pain at inj site; diarrhea; elevated alkaline phosphate, SGOT, SGPT; nausea & vomiting; +ve Coombs' test; pseudomembranous colitis; seizures (large doses).

Aminoglycosides.
