Indications/Uses
Pancreatic exocrine insufficiency (eg, cystic fibrosis, chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic surgery, gastrectomy, pancreatic cancer, GI bypass surgery, ductal obstruction of the pancreas or common bile duct, Shwachman-Diamond syndrome, status after acute pancreatitis attack & enteral or oral feeding initiation) in ped & adult.
Cystic fibrosisAdult & childn >4 yr 500 lipase u/kg/meal, <4 yr 1,000 lipase u/kg/meal. Max: 10,000 lipase u/kg/day. Other conditions associated w/ pancreatic exocrine insufficiency Individualized dosage according to the degree of maldigestion & fat content of the meal. Required dose range: 25,000-80,000 lipase u/kg/meal, ½ of individual dose for snacks.
Should be taken with food: Swallow whole, do not chew/crush. Alternatively, open cap & mix granules w/ soft food or take w/ liqd (pH <5.5). If mixed w/ soft food, swallow immediately w/o chewing.
