Indications/Uses
Management of chronic asthma, allergic rhinitis. Prophylaxis for exercise-induced asthma.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Doses to be given once daily at bed time. Chewable tab Childn 6-14 yr 5 mg. FC tab Adult ≥15 yr 10 mg.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Hepatic impairment or cirrhosis.
Special Precautions
Not indicated for use in acute asthma attacks. Not to be used as monotherapy for the treatment & management of exercise-induced bronchospasm. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <2 yr.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances, dry mouth, thirst; hypersensitivity reactions including anaphylaxis, angioedema & skin reactions; asthenia, dizziness, irritability, restlessness, headache, sleep disorders (insomnia, drowsiness, nightmares); upper resp tract infection, fever, arthralgia, myalgia.
Drug Interactions
Potent CYP450 enzyme inducers eg, phenobarb or rifampin.
