Indications/Uses
CHD eg, chronic stable angina pectoris (angina of effort), HTN.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initially 1 tab of GITS 30 once daily. Dose can be increased in stages to 120 mg once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Avoid grapefruit juice. Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. CV shock. Concomitant use of rifampicin. Pregnancy & lactation. Patients w/ Kock pouch (ileostomy after proctocolectomy).
Special Precautions
Severe hypotension; close monitoring of dialysis patients w/ malignant HTN; heart failure, severe aortic stenosis. Preexisting severe GI narrowing. Severe hepatic impairment.
Adverse Reactions
Common: Headache, edema, vasodilation, constipation, feeling unwell. Uncommon: Allergic reaction, allergic edema/angioedema, anxiety reactions, sleep disorders, vertigo, migraine, dizziness, tremor, visual disturbances, tachycardia, palpitations, hypotension, syncope, nosebleed, nasal congestion, GI & abdominal pain, nausea, dyspepsia, flatulence, dry mouth, transient increase in liver enzymes, erythema, muscle cramps, joint swelling, polyuria, dysuria, erectile dysfunction, unspecific pain, chills. Rare: Pruritus, urticaria, rash, par-/dysaesthesia, gingival hyperplasia.
Drug Interactions
Effects enhanced by antihypertensive agents, CYP450 3A4 inhibitor (eg, cimetidine, macrolide antibiotics, anti-HIV PIs, azole anti-mycotics, fluoxetine, nefazodone, quinupristin/dalfopristin, valproic acid) & β-receptor blockers. Digoxin, quinidine, tacrolimus (monitor plasma level).
