Dosage/Direction for Use

Herbesser/Herbesser 60 Adult Angina pectoris, variant angina 30 mg tds, may be increased to 60 mg tds. Essential HTN (mild to moderate) 30-60 mg tds. Herbesser R 100 Adult Angina pectoris, variant angina 100 mg once daily. May be increased to 200 mg. Essential HTN (mild to moderate) 100-200 mg once daily.

Overdosage

View Herbesser/Herbesser 60/Herbesser R100 overdosage for action to be taken in the event of an overdose.

Administration

Cap: May be taken with or without food: Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.|Tab: Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take before meals. Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.

Contraindications

History of hypersensitivity. CHF, 2nd- or 3rd-degree AV block, sick sinus syndrome, sinus arrest, or SA block. Pregnancy.

Special Precautions

Avoid abrupt w/drawal. CHF. Severe bradycardia (<50 beats/min), 1st degree AV block. Severe hypotension. Severe hepatic & renal dysfunction. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Concomitant use w/ other antiarrhythmic agents. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn & elderly.

Adverse Reactions

Stomach discomfort, constipation, abdominal pain; dizziness, bradycardia, facial hot flushes, AV block, hypersensitivity, headache; CHF; Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, exfoliative dermatitis.

Drug Interactions

Enhanced effects of antihypertensive agents, nitrates, dihydropyridine Ca antagonists, theophylline, triazolam, midazolam, muscle relaxants. Decreased effect w/ rifampicin. Increased adverse reactions w/ β-blockers, Rauwolfia prep, digitalis, antiarrhythmic drugs, aprindin HCl, cyclosporin, tacrolimus, carbamazepine, phenytoin, cimetidine, HIV protease inhibitors, anesth.
