Indications and Dosage

Oral
Prophylaxis of motion sickness

Adult: For the prevention of nausea, vomiting, and dizziness associated with motion sickness: 25-50 mg as a single dose prior to travelling; may give further doses as needed. Max: 100 mg daily. Dosage recommendations may vary among countries and individual products (refer to detailed product guidelines).

Allergic conditions, Nausea and vomiting

Administration

Should be taken with food. Take w/in 30 min before meals.

Contraindications

Pregnancy and lactation.

Special Precautions

Patient with bladder neck obstruction or enlarged prostate, increased eye pressure, gastrointestinal obstruction.

Adverse Reactions

Eye disorders: Blurred vision.
Gastrointestinal disorders: Diarrhoea, dyspepsia, dry mouth.
Nervous system disorders: Drowsiness, dizziness, headache.
Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: Maculopapular rash.

Patient Counseling Information

This drug may cause CNS depression, which may impair physical or mental abilities; if affected, do not drive or operate machinery.

Drug Interactions

May enhance the adverse reactions of other CNS depressants.

Food Interaction

May potentiate the CNS depressant effect of alcohol.

Action

Description: Buclizine, a piperazine derivative, is a sedating antihistamine with antiemetic and orexigenic effects. It also exerts minimal central antimuscarinic action.
