Salmonella typhi polysaccharides (Ty2 strain)
Indications/Uses
Prevention of typhoid fever in adults & childn >2 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
0.5 mL IM or SC inj as single dose. Revaccination every 2-3 yr if risk of exposure continues.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to vaccine, formaldehyde or casein. Postpone vaccination in acute febrile disease.
Special Precautions
Anaphylactic reaction. Not to be inj intravascularly. Not for protection against Salmonella paratyphi A or B or non-typhoidal salmonella. Syncope; thrombocytopenia or bleeding disorders; immunosuppressive treatment or immunodeficiency. Pregnancy. Not indicated in childn <2 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Cephalalgia; myalgia; inj site pain, erythema, swelling, oedema & induration, malaise, fatigue/asthenia. Fever.
