Mefenamic acid
Indications/Uses
Mild to moderate pain, rheumatic disorders, dysmenorrhoea, menorrhagia.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Initially 500 mg, then 250 mg 6 hrly, not exceeding 1 wk.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Take immediately after meals.
Contraindications
Peptic ulceration, inflammatory bowel disease.
Special Precautions
Renal or hepatic impairment. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances, bleeding peptic ulceration, headache, drowsiness, dizziness, nervousness, visual disturbances, skin rashes, urticaria, haemolytic anaemia agranulocytosis, pancytopenia, thrombocytopenia.
Drug Interactions
Coumarin anticoagulants, lithium, MTX, glycosides, phenytoin, sulphonylureas, antihypertensives.
