Indications/Uses
Tobacco dependence by relieving nicotine craving & w/drawal symptoms facilitating smoking cessation in smokers motivated to quit.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & elderly 4 sprays hrly. Max: Not to exceed 2 sprays per dosing schedule & 64 sprays in 24 hr.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Non-smokers. Childn <18 yr.
Special Precautions
Not to be used by non-smokers. Susceptibility to angioedema & urticaria. Recent MI & CVA, unstable or worsening angina, severe cardiac arrhythmias, uncontrolled HTN or hyperthyroidism, phaeochromocytoma; oesophagitis, gastric or peptic ulcers; history of epilepsy or seizures. May cause local skin reactions or eye & mucous membranes irritation due to butylated hydroxytoluene. Avoid contact w/ eyes. Monitor blood sugar levels in patients w/ DM during therapy. Concomitant use of products w/ narrow therapeutic window eg, theophylline, tacrine, clozapine, ropinirole; CYP1A2-metabolised medicinal products eg, imipramine, olanzapine, clomipramine, fluvoxamine; flecainide, pentazocine. Moderate to severe hepatic &/or severe renal impairment. May impair fertility. Pregnancy. Avoid use during lactation. Not to be used in childn & adolescents <18 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Headache; hiccups, throat irritation; nausea. Hypersensitivity; dysgeusia, paraesthesia; cough; abdominal pain, dry mouth, diarrhoea, dyspepsia, flatulence, salivary hypersecretion, stomatitis, vomiting; burning sensation, fatigue.
Drug Interactions
Enhanced haemodynamic effects of adenosine. Increased blood levels of products w/ narrow therapeutic window eg, theophylline, tacrine, clozapine, ropinirole. Increased plasma conc of CYP1A2-metabolised medicinal products eg, imipramine, olanzapine, clomipramine, fluvoxamine. Induced metabolism of flecainide, pentazocine.
