Indications/Uses
Once daily SC administration for DM in adults, adolescents & childn ≥2 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Individualised dosage. May be administered once daily at any time of the day, however, at the same time everyday.
Special Precautions
Transferring to other type or brand of insulin. Hypoglycaemia. Intercurrent illness. Check insulin label before each inj to avoid medication error. May affect ability to drive & operate machinery.
Adverse Reactions
Hypoglycaemia, lipohypertrophy, inj site reactions.
Drug Interactions
Enhanced effects by oral antidiabetics, ACE inhibitors, disopyramide, fibrates, fluoxetine, MAOIs, pentoxifylline, propoxyphene, salicylates, sulfonamide antibiotics. Reduced effects by corticosteroids, danazol, diazoxide, diuretics, glucagon, INH, oestrogens & progestogens, phenothiazine derivatives, somatropin, sympathomimetics, thyroid hormones, atypical antipsychotics, PIs. Potentiated or weakened insulin effects by β-blockers, clonidine, lithium salts or alcohol. Hypoglycaemia followed by hyperglycaemia w/ pentamidine. Reduced or offset signs of adrenergic counterregulation by sympatholytics.
