Indications/Uses
Albumin deficiency therapy. Increase oncotic pressure in case of oncotic deficiency. Iso-oncotic vol replacement w/ long-term effect.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use if allergic or anaphylactic type reactions & 1st clinical signs of CV overload occur. Hypervolaemia or haemodilution (eg, decompensated cardiac insufficiency, HTN, oesophageal varices, pulmonary oedema, haemorrhagic diathesis, severe anemia, renal & post-renal anuria). Ensure adequate hydration. Monitor electrolytes status & circulatory overload or hyperhydration. In large vol replacement, ensure adequate substitution of other blood constituents (coagulation factors, electrolytes, platelets & erythrocytes). Controlled Na diet. Possibility of transmitting infective agents. Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Anaphylactic shock. Chills, fever, nausea, vomiting, headache, malaise & flushing; rash, itching, urticaria, dyspnoea, tachycardia, bradycardia, hypotension.
