Indications/Uses
Dosage/Direction for Use
Hapacol Adult including elderly & childn ≥12 yr 1-2 tab every 4-6 hr. Childn 6-11 yr Not >4 doses in 24 hr. Max daily dose: 60 mg/kg in 10-50 mg/kg divided doses throughout 24-hr period. 6-8 yr ½ tab, 9-11 yr 1 tab. Hapacol Junior Recommended dose: Approx 60 mg/kg in 10-50 mg/kg divided doses throughout 24-hr period. Childn 6-12 yr 1-2 sachet every 4-6 hr. Max: 4 doses in 24 hr, <37 kg Max: 80 mg/kg daily, 38-50 kg Max: 3 g daily, >50 kg Max: 4 g daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Dissolve in water before taking.
Special Precautions
Severe skin reactions eg, skin reddening, blisters or rash. Not to be given in patients w/ phenylketonuria. Low Na diet. Not to be used w/ other paracetamol-containing drugs. Alcohol dependence. Severe renal or hepatic impairment. Not recommended in childn <6 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Cutaneous hypersensitivity reactions eg, skin rashes, angioedema, SJS/TEN.
Drug Interactions
Hapacol Reduced liver capacity w/ alcohol. Increased absorption by metoclopramide or domperidone. Reduced absorption by cholestyramine. Enhanced anticoagulant effect of warfarin & other coumarins. Hapacol Junior Increased effect of oral anticoagulant. Distorted blood glucose test by glucose oxidase-perioxidase. Distorted blood uric acid by phosphotungstic acid method.
