Indications and Dosage
Topical/Cutaneous
Wart removal
Adult: As a 10% soln: Apply onto affected areas bid.
Child: Same as adult dose.
Contraindications
Application to face and anogenital region, broken skin, and moles.
Adverse Reactions
Significant: Mild to severe eye and skin irritation.
Resp: Occupational asthma, resp (e.g. nose, throat, lungs) irritation.
Dermatologic: Brown staining of skin, allergic contact dermatitis and skin sensitisation.
Patient Counseling Information
Avoid contact w/ eyes and mucous membranes.
Action
Description:
Mechanism of Action: Glutaral is an aldehyde used as a disinfectant. It is effective against gm+ve and gm-ve bacteria, some fungi, and viruses including hepatitis B virus and HIV. It also has anhidrotic effect, drying the warts and the surrounding skin, thereby reducing the spread of lesions and facilitating easier removal of persistent warts.
Storage
Store below 25°C. Keep away from flame. Store upright.
