Fluticasone propionate
Indications/Uses
Prophylaxis & treatment of allergic rhinitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >12 yr 2 sprays into each nostril once daily preferably in the morning. In some cases, 2 sprays into each nostril bd may be required. Max: 4 sprays into each nostril daily. Adolescent & childn ≥4 yr 1 spray into each nostril once daily preferably in the morning. In some cases, 1 spray into each nostril bd may be required. Max: 2 sprays into each nostril daily. Max relief may not be obtained until after 3-4 days of treatment.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Local infections. Monitor height of childn during prolonged treatment. Adrenal suppression w/ higher doses. Avoid concomitant use w/ ritonavir. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Epistaxis, headache, unpleasant taste & smell, nose & throat dryness & irritation.
Drug Interactions
Increased plasma conc w/ CYP3A inhibitors eg, ritonavir, ketoconazole, itraconazole.
