Adult Mild to moderate infection 250 mg every 6 hr or 500 mg every 12 hr.
Very severe infection Up to ≥4 g daily.
Childn 30 mg/kg daily in divided doses.
Very severe infection 50 mg/kg or 100 mg/kg daily in 2 or 3 divided doses.
Upper & lower resp tract infection Duration: 6-10 days.
β-haemolytic Streptococci group A infection Duration: 10 days.
Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection Duration: 10-14 days.
Acne 1 g daily for 1-2 wk. Min: 0.5 g daily for 12 wk.
Impetigo 1 g daily for 10 days.
Erysipelas, phlegmon, furunculosis, carbuncles 2 g daily for 10 days.
Erythrasma 1.5 g daily for 6 days.
Otitis externa 1.5 g daily for 6-10 days.
Nonspecific urethritis 1.5-2 g daily for 14-21 days.
Syphilis 3 g daily in divided doses for 10-20 days.
Lymphogranuloma venereum 1.5 g daily for 8-10 days.
Gingivitis 1 g daily for 6-10 days.
Diphtheria, scarlet fever 1-1.5 g daily for 10 days.
Trachoma 1.5 g daily for 21 days.
Pre-op prophylaxis 1 g 1 hr before procedure followed by 500 mg 6 hr after.
