Reflux disease & associated symptoms. Prevention of gastroduodenal ulcers induced by NSAIDs in patients at risk w/ need for continuous NSAIDs treatment. H pylori eradication. Duodenal & gastric ulcers. Long-term management of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome & other pathological secretory conditions.

Adult & childn ≥12 yr Reflux disease & associated symptoms Mild: One 20-mg tab daily. Duration of treatment: 2-4 wk. Moderate & severe: One 40-mg tab daily, may be doubled if necessary. Duration of treatment: 4-8 wk. Long-term management & prevention: Maintenance dose: One 20-mg tab daily, may be increased to 40 mg daily. Reduce to 20 mg if healing relapse occurs. Prevention of gastroduodenal ulcers induced by NSAIDs in patient at risk w/ need for continuous NSAIDs treatment One 20-mg tab daily. H pylori eradication Triple therapy: 1 Conpanzole tab 40 mg + amoxicillin 1 g + clarithromycin 500 mg; or 1 Conpanzole tab 40 mg + metronidazole 500 mg + clarithromycin 500 mg; or 1 Conpanzole tab 40 mg + amoxicillin 1 g + metronidazole 500 mg. Doses are to be taken bd. Duration of treatment: 7 days up to max: 2 wk. Duodenal & gastric ulcers One 40-mg tab daily. Duration of therapy for duodenal ulcer is 2-4 wk; gastric ulcer is 4-8 wk. Max duration of treatment: 8 wk. Long-term management of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome & other pathological secretory conditions 80 mg (two 40-mg tab).

Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 30 min-1 hr before a meal. Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.

Moderate to severe hepatic or renal dysfunction; mild GI complaints eg, nervous dyspepsia.

Monitor liver enzymes periodically. Gastric malignancy. Pregnancy & lactation.

Thrombocytopenia, leucopenia; headache, dizziness; blurred vision; GI disturbances; rash/exanthema/eruption, skin reactions; arthralgia, myalgia; hyperlipidaemia, wt changes; asthenia, fatigue, malaise, increased body temp, peripheral edema; hypersensitivity; hepatobiliary disorders; sleep disorders, depression & disorientation.

Ketoconazole, CYP450-metabolized drugs.

Antacids, Antireflux Agents & Antiulcerants

A02BC02 - pantoprazole ; Belongs to the class of proton pump inhibitors. Used in the treatment of peptic ulcer and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
