Indications and Dosage
Oral
Cerebrovascular and peripheral vascular disease
Adult: 3-12 mg 3-4 times/day, up to 90 mg/day.
Contraindications
MI, hyperthyroidism, paroxysmal tachycardia, severe angina.
Special Precautions
Peptic ulcers, tachyarrhythmias, uncompensated CCF. Pregnancy and lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Trembling, nervousness, weakness, dizziness, palpitations, nausea, vomiting, anaemia.
Action
Description:
Mechanism of Action: Buphenine is a sympathomimetic that produces peripheral vasodilatation via stimulation of beta-adrenoceptors. It also acts directly on the arteries and arterioles of the skeletal muscles. It also suppresses uterine contractility thereby preventing premature labour.
