Per mL Betamethasone dipropionate 5 mg, betamethasone disodium phosphate 2 mg
Indications/Uses
Rheumatic disorders, collagen disease, allergic states.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IM inj 1-2 mL. IA inj 0.25-1 mL, depending on joint size. Intradermal inj Max: 1 mL. Intralesional inj 0.25-1 mL, depending on lesion size.
Contraindications
Not for IV use. Systemic infections; inj into unstable joints, infected areas & intervertebral spaces. Childn <2 yr, neonates.
Special Precautions
Secondary adrenocortical insufficiency on long-term use. Local infections. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Fluid & electrolyte, musculoskeletal, GI, dermatologic, neurologic, endocrine, ophth & metabolic disturbances.
Drug Interactions
Reduced plasma level of salicylates. Metabolism altered by phenytoin. Increased clearance by phenobarb. Hyperglycaemic effect of betamethasone may offset the hypoglycaemic effect of oral antidiabetic drugs.
