Chlorpheniramine maleate 4 mg, paracetamol 500 mg, pseudoephedrine HCl 60 mg
Indications/Uses
Symptomatic relief of headache, fever & pain, sinus & nasal congestion associated w/ sinusitis or common cold.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Severe HTN or CAD. Concomitant use w/ MAOIs or w/in 14 days of discontinuation.
Special Precautions
Narrow-angle glaucoma, history of bronchial asthma, hyperthyroidism, CV diseases, prostatic hypertrophy, HTN or DM. Not to be taken w/ other paracetamol-containing drugs. Concomitant use w/ CNS depressants, alcohol. May affect ability to drive & operate machinery. Hepatic & renal impairment. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Chlorpheniramine maleate: Sedation, lassitude, dizziness, hypotension. muscular weakness, incoordination, GI disturbances, headache, blurred vision, tinnitus, elation/depression, irritability, anorexia, micturition difficulty, dry mouth, chest tightness, heavy & weak hands. Pseudoephedrine HCl: Fear, anxiety, restlessness, tremor, insomnia, confusion, irritability, psychotic states.
Drug Interactions
Accelerated absorption w/ metoclopramide. Affected excretion & altered plasma conc w/ probenecid. Enhanced sedative effects of CNS depressants eg, alcohol, barbiturates, hypnotics, opioid analgesics, anxiolytic sedatives. Enhanced antimuscarinic effects of antihistamines. Risk of hypertensive crisis w/ MAOIs. Reduced antihypertensive effects of methyldopa, mecamylamine, reserpine, veratrum alkaloids. Increased ectopic pacemaker activity w/ digitalis. Increased rate of absorption w/ antacids. Decreased rate of absorption w/ kaolin.
