Indications and Dosage
Oral
Pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal and joint disorders
Adult: 60 mg tid or 120 mg as a single daily dose.
Administration
Should be taken with food. Take w/ or immediately after meals.
Special Precautions
Pregnancy, lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Adverse GI effects, anorexia, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation. Anaemia, leucopenia, thrombocytopenia.
Drug Interactions
Possible increased risk of seizures when used with ciprofloxacin and norfloxacin. May also increase serum levels of warfarin, methotrexate, lithium salts and sulphonylurea derivatives.
Action
Description:
Mechanism of Action: Loxoprofen is a non-selective cyclooxygenase inhibitor. It works by reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins from arachidonic acid. It is a prodrug that is rapidly converted to its active metabolite after oral admin.
