Action
Description:
Mechanism of Action: Eugenol, a component of clove oil and some essential oils, has analgesic, local anaesthetic, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial effects. When mixed with zinc oxide, it is used as a temporary anodyne dental filling. It is also used as a flavouring agent and is used in oral hygiene preparations e.g. mouthwash. Eugenol may also be mixed with other pain reducing products to increase the pain relief.
