Nimesulide
Indications/Uses
Acute pain & primary dysmenorrhoea.
Dosage/Direction for Use
100 mg bd.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Established hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs. History of hepatotoxic reactions to nimesulide. Concomitant exposure to other potentially hepatotoxic substances. Alcoholism, drug addiction. GI ulcer or hemorrhage, bleeding disorders. Severe coagulation disorders. Severe heart failure. Severe renal impairment, hepatic impairment. Patients w/ fever &/or flu-like symptoms. Childn <12 yr. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Abnormal liver function tests, GI disorders, HTN. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Pyrosis, nausea, gastralgia, erythematous or urticarial skin rashes; rarely headache, dizziness, drowsiness, oliguria, oedema, melena, petechiae, purpura, thrombocytopenia. Stevens-Johnson syndrome, Lyell's syndrome, anaphylactic reactions, stomatitis.
Drug Interactions
Anticoagulants or platelet aggregation inhibitors. Decrease oral bioavailability of furosemide. Displace fenofibrate, salicylic acid & tolbutamide from plasma protein-binding.
