Indications/Uses
Treatment of asthma as add-on therapy in patients w/ mild to moderate persistent asthma inadequately controlled on inhaled corticosteroids & short-acting β-agonists. Prophylaxis for exercise-induced bronchoconstriction. Chewtab Alternative treatment in patients w/ mild persistent asthma who do not have recent history of serious asthma attacks. FC tab Symptomatic relief of seasonal allergic rhinitis in patients ≥15 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Chewtab Childn 6-14 yr 5 mg daily. 2-5 yr 4 mg daily. FC tab Adult & childn ≥15 yr 10 mg once daily. Doses to be taken in the evening.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Acute asthma attacks. Not to be abruptly substituted for inhaled or oral corticosteroids. Churg-Strauss syndrome. Phenylketonuria. Galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, glucose-galactose malabsorption. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, abdominal pain, thirst.
Drug Interactions
Decreased conc w/ CYP3A4 inducers eg, phenytoin, phenobarb, rifampicin.
