OA 7.5 mg/day. Dose may increase to 15 mg/day. RA/ankylosing spondylitis 15 mg/day. Dose may be reduced to 7.5 mg/day. Patients w/ increased risks of adverse reactions Start treatment at 7.5 mg/day. Dialysis patients w/ severe renal failure Max: Up to 7.5 mg/day. Max recommended daily dose: 15 mg.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Active or recent GI ulceration or perforation, active Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, severe hepatic insufficiency, non-dialysed severe renal insufficiency, overt GI bleeding, recent cerebrovascular bleeding or established systemic bleeding disorders, severe uncontrolled heart failure. Patients who have developed signs of asthma, nasal polyps, angioedema or urticaria following acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs. Pregnancy & lactation; childn <15 yr. Peri-op pain in the setting of CABG surgery.
Special Precautions
History of GI disease. CV disease, CHF, liver cirrhosis, nephrotic syndrome, overt renal disease, hypovolemia. Elderly. Treatment w/ anticoagulants.
